Bronx the Si-bord

Bronx - my first every foster

Recently I started my first ever foster experience.

A friend fosters for the Waitakere pound, and she let me know that there was a Si-bord (Siberian husky x Border collie) like Brody.

He had been surrendered as the owner didnt feel he could give him what he needs. Unfortunately it was the worst ever timing. The pound was REALLY full, and unlike seizures or lost dogs they dont have to hold surrendered dogs for 7 days. Bronx was on the list (along with quite a few other dogs) to be euthanized on Friday. This was the Wednesday I found out about him.

I went straight out to see him Wednesday afternoon, and immediately put my name down for him registering my interest. He was a bouncy side boy, 11 months old with the usual energy and enthusiasm of a si-bord!

I called again Thursday morning to say I was really interested, and said I would be out that afternoon with my dog for a meet and match up (to see if they got on). When I arrived on Thursday afternoon I was told that no-one had passed on the information to the kennel manager, and that Bronx was on the euthanasia list still for Friday morning. After meeting me and Brody, the kennel manager moved him from the euthanasia list to the neuter/vaccinate list.

Friday morning I got a property inspection, and a verbal agreement from the North Shore council to waive the three dog permit as this was temporary, and Bronx arrived Friday afternoon.

More coming on my foster adventure soon :-)
